For every individual living with HIV, there is also a family member impacted by the disease.

 

FCAN, the Families’ and Children’s AIDS Network, is a leader in developing family-focused programs and policies that are responsive to the unique needs of parents and children affected by HIV and AIDS in the state of Illinois. We welcome all families from across the state to participate in our organization.

At FCAN, we support HIV-affected families by offering free, in-home clinical and legal services in the Cook County area and semi-annual retreats for families across the state. In addition, FCAN has been instrumental in developing public policies and programs through its statewide education and advocacy efforts. With the help of the individuals that we serve and our network of providers and volunteers, FCAN is strengthening HIV-affected families statewide.

House Bill 5551, our bill to support and
maintain relationships between incarcerated
parents and their children, passed the full
Illinois Senate and is on its way to the
Governor for signature! If signed into law,
children's best interests will be the controlling
factor in court decisions, and visitation and
services will be supported!

maintain relationships between incarcerated
parents and their children, passed the Illinois
Senate Judiciary Committee last week and is
on its way to the Senate Floor! If passed and
signed into law, children's best interests will
be the controlling factor in court decisions,
and visitation and services will be supported!


On May 23, 2013, the Illinois Senate
passed House Bill 61, which repeals
the state's outdated, harmful HIV
School Principal Notification law!
